At a glance
Agadir is Morocco's modern seaside city — rebuilt with wide boulevards and a long palm-lined promenade after the 1960 earthquake, it trades ancient medinas for easy walkability, café terraces, and reliable sun. The vast Souk El Had, the hilltop Kasbah ruins with their sweeping bay views, and a smart new marina anchor a laid-back city break, while the Souss valley, argan country, and the Anti-Atlas mountains put day trips within easy reach.

Where to stay
Agadir is compact and easy to navigate, from the seafront hotel strip to the lively local quarters uphill. Here's how to choose your base.
Seafront
The main hotel district along the promenade — most stays, restaurants and the beachfront walk are here.
Uptown
The rebuilt old-town quarter, packed with grill houses, budget guesthouses and everyday Moroccan street life.
North seafront
A modern marina with yacht berths, smart apartments and waterside dining at the quieter north end of the bay.
City centre
The commercial heart around Souk El Had and Avenue Hassan II — shops, banks, cafés and easy taxi links.
Beyond the city
Agadir is the gateway to the Souss valley, argan country and the Anti-Atlas. Every excursion below can be booked through ShopTravel or your hotel desk.
Follow a palm-lined gorge in the High Atlas foothills to natural rock pools and seasonal waterfalls near Immouzer.

Everything Canadian travellers ask before booking

There are no non-stop flights. The quickest routings connect once — via Casablanca on Royal Air Maroc, or through a European hub such as Paris or Frankfurt — for roughly 13–15 hours of total travel to Agadir (AGA).
Agadir is a year-round destination with 300+ sunny days. October to April is the mild winter-sun peak; spring and early summer are warm and quieter.
Agadir is one of Morocco's more relaxed cities and generally safe. Use normal precautions, agree taxi fares in advance, and keep valuables secure in the busy souks.
The Moroccan dirham (MAD) is a closed currency, so exchange after you arrive at the airport, banks or bureaux. Cards are accepted in hotels, malls and the marina; carry cash for taxis, souks and tips.
Arabic and Tamazight (Berber) are the local languages, and French is widely spoken. You'll find English in hotels and tourist areas.
The seafront and centre are walkable. Orange 'petit taxi' cabs are cheap for short hops — insist on the meter or agree a fare first — and larger 'grand taxis' or a rental car suit day trips.
Yes — you can add day trips like Paradise Valley, Taroudant and Marrakech to your booking at checkout or arrange them through your hotel desk on arrival.
