The coast’s most-booked resorts, family and adults-only.
At a glance
Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts line 50 kilometres of coconut-palm beach on the Dominican Republic’s easternmost tip, one of the most-booked all-inclusive coasts in the Caribbean. The scale is the point: more resorts, more choice and more competition on price than almost anywhere else in the region, from giant family complexes to adults-only hideaways. Bavaro beach is the long, palm-backed centre, with calmer Cap Cana to the south and Uvero Alto to the north. Beyond the sand, Saona Island catamarans and Hoyo Azul cenote are the classic excursions. It is the Caribbean’s easiest, best-value beach week.

Where to stay
"Punta Cana" covers a 50 km coastline of distinct beach areas, from the busy resort strip of Bávaro to the gated luxury of Cap Cana. Here's how to pick your base.
Central strip
The heart of Punta Cana: the largest concentration of resorts, the longest beach, and easy access to shops, bars, and excursions.
South, gated
A gated marina community of luxury resorts, a Jack Nicklaus golf course, and calm Juanillo Beach — refined and exclusive.
North, 40 min
A quieter stretch of wild beach north of the airport, home to adults-only and boutique resorts away from the crowds.
Between Bávaro & airport
A sheltered reef bay with calm, shallow water and a relaxed local marina — close to the airport but well away from the bustle.
North Bávaro
Wide golden sand backed by big-name family resorts and water parks — a livelier extension of the main Bávaro strip.
Far north
A dramatic surf beach loved for buggy tours and a more natural setting, anchored by a handful of large resorts.
Beyond the resort
Punta Cana is the launch point for the Dominican Republic's best beaches, islands, and natural wonders. Every excursion below can be done as a day trip from any Bávaro or Cap Cana resort and booked through shoptravel or your resort desk.
Cruise to a protected national-park island of natural pools, starfish, and endless palm-backed sand. The DR's most famous excursion.
Swim in the Hoyo Azul cenote, zipline over the jungle, and explore caves and lagoons in this eco-adventure park.
Walk the oldest European city in the Americas — cobbled streets, the first cathedral, and 500 years of Caribbean history.
Tear through countryside trails and sugarcane fields by dune buggy, stopping at a cenote and the wild surf of Macao Beach.
